  • Annual output producer price inflation remained low in May. Input prices continued to fall, but at a lower rate.
  • The output price index for goods produced by UK manufacturers (factory gate prices) rose 0.5% in the year to May, compared with a rise of 0.6% in the year to April.
  • Factory gate prices fell 0.1% between April and May, but rose 0.1% between March and April.
  • Core factory gate prices, which exclude the more volatile food, beverages, tobacco & petroleum products, rose 1.0% in the year to May, unchanged in the year to April.
  • The overall price of materials and fuels bought by UK manufacturers for processing (total input prices) fell 5.0% in the year to May, compared with a fall of 5.3% in the year to April.
  • Total input prices fell 0.9% between April and May, unchanged between March and April.
