Laboratory services and prices

AHVLA offers four price lists for laboratory tests, each one being applicable to a different customer group. Please read the descriptions below to find out which price list is applicable to you, then click on the link to go to relevant price list.

The price lists also contain detailed information about the tests such as test type, turnaround time, which species the test is for, sample type and quantity required, test set-up days, and accreditation status. For some tests, there is also more detailed scientific data provided.

Disease Surveillance Tests Price List (Click here) – updated for 1 July 2014

Prices quoted apply to tests on samples from farmed animals in Great Britain submitted by private veterinary surgeons to AHVLA Veterinary Investigation Centre for diagnostic purposes. Some of the tests and services in this price list are subsidised by Defra.

Export and Captive Avian Import Tests Price List (Click here) – updated for 1 July 2014

Prices quoted apply to:

  • Tests on animals for export purposes.
  • Import of captive avians – statutory tests required under EU directives.
  • Tests for some artificial insemination purposes.

AHVLA Scientific Tests Price List (Click here) – updated for 1 July 2014

AHVLA also offers a range of tests for purposes outside those listed above. These include:

  • Submissions not appropriate for UK disease surveillance purposes.
  • Tests on samples from companion animals.
  • Animals outside the UK at the time of sampling.

Herdsure® Cattle Health Improvement Service is the first of AHVLA’s testing and consultancy services available to help veterinary practitioners provide farmers with a structured programme to support health planning on farms.
