Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
The Ministry of Defence (MOD), in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), from Monday 8th April 2013 introduce a benefit called the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). AFIP is a simplification of the financial support available for members of the Armed Forces who have been seriously injured as a result of military service since 6 April 2005.
AFIP will provide eligible recipients with on-going payments to help with the additional costs associated with their injuries. Claimants who choose to claim AFIP will not also be eligible for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Attendance Allowance (AA).
Other benefits you may be entitled to if you are awarded AFIP
(also known as passported benefits)
