Content Programme 2011-2013
With an investment totalling about £5.4m the Content programme 2011-13 supports the innovative creation, embedding and clustering of digital content through projects as wide ranging as the Zandra Rhodes fashion archive, 3D models of fossils and skeletons and World War 2 bomb damage maps.
The Content programme 2011-2013 builds on previous JISC Digitisation and Content Programmes which addressed issues related to the creation and delivery of digital content in parallel with the skills and strategies needed within institutions to support digitisation activity.
At the same time JISC has been working to raise the profile of the value of digital content in Higher Education, public sector and the government, and has identified the benefits of digital resources in areas such as Inspiring Research, Inspiring Scholarship, Bestowing Economic Benefits, Connecting People and Communities, and Creating Digital Britain (Inspiring Research, Inspiring Scholarship).
This programme has funded 23 projects in three different strands focusing on the creation and embedding of content in teaching and learning (Strand A), mass digitisation (Strand B) and clustering of existing digital content (Strand C).
Projects are placing particular emphasis on innovative approaches to the creation and delivery of digital content by working in partnership within and outside the educational sector and maximising the reach and impact of the content created.
