Federated Access Management and Repositories

As the new Access Management Federation is being adopted across the UK, the time is right to consider what opportunities this offers repositories.  Of course, some projects have already begun this process, most notably (focusing on document repositories) 'Federated Access to Repositories' and (focusing more on datasets) some of the projects in the e-infrastructure programme such as ASPiS, AGASTSPIDER and iREAD.  At this point a consultation is valuable, and JISC is using the Ideascale system to enable those interested to post comments and vote on a series of scenarios that we've developed where repositories might use / deploy access (and identity) management.  This will help JISC decide where the priority areas are for investment over the next few years.

The scenarios are also described together with background information in a PDF report.

If you would like to contribute to the consultation, please follow this link

The consultation will be open until the end of February.
