PG Cert Development

Postgraduate Certificate development through an HEA change programme in this area. An additional grant will be made available to those institutions demonstrating the most effective use of the change programme.

Total available: up to £0.45m

Strand 2: Para (s) 21-24

Open Materials for Accredited Courses (OMAC)

Projects will involve the release of high quality resources to support HEA accredited programmes or schemes of professional development that meet the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education (UK PSF).

15 projects, at a maximum of £20,000

Total available: up to £0.3m

Strand 3: Para 25-28

Embedding OER Practice in Institutions

The focus of these projects will be on whole institutional change, with outputs stated as reviewed change strategies addressing the development and use of OERs by teaching staff and students. An additional grant will be made available to those institutions demonstrating the most effective use of the Change Programme.

Strand 4: Para 29-32

OER Themes

All projects will involve the collection and release of OER. In addition, each will demonstrate the application of this activity in responding to identified opportunities and challenges for the sector.

Projects from £40,000 to £200,000

Total available: up to £1.6m

The deadline for receipt of proposals in response to this call is 12:00 noon UK time on Monday 5th September 2011. 

Funding is available for projects starting from 3rd October 2011 for up to one year. All projects must be complete by 2nd October 2012.

A community briefing event was held on 17 August 2011. Eligibilty

Proposals may be submitted by Higher Education (HE) Institutions funded by HEFCE. FE institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs are also eligible to bid provided proposals demonstrate work that supports the HE in FE agenda. HE and FE institutions in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not eligible to bid but may be involved as partners in proposals led by HE institutions funded by HEFCE or FE institutions in England which meet the criteria outlined above.

Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia unless indicated otherwise in the relevant terms of reference. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector (for example with research council sites, publishers, commercial suppliers), but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.
