Working with Local Enterprise Partnerships and City Deals to protect the environment and facilitate growth.

The Defra Network has issued an Offer: (98kb)pdf document to Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and City Deals inviting them to work with the Network to safeguard the environment and achieve sustainable growth.

The Defra Network (Natural England, the Environment Agency, Forestry Commission and the Marine Management Organisation) will work more closely together, coordinating its activities locally to:

  • actively facilitate sustainable growth locally, using our resources, networks and expertise;
  • secure co-ordinated working practices, which make the Network easy to do business with;
  • enable evidence and knowledge to be used to help businesses grow sustainably.

The Offer is aimed at: 

  1. Local Enterprise Partnershipsexternal link (LEPs) -  local business-led partnerships, established as powerhouses to drive local economic growth and development; and
  2. The Government’s City Deals initiativeexternal link - designed to accelerate growth by passing control over budgets and powers from central Government to selected cities through tailored agreements or ‘deals’.

The Offer will also include work on Enterprise Zones.
