The UK Commission for Employment and Skills is pleased to welcome you to the Almanac Online. This website has now been updated for 2011.

We believe there continues to be a critical need for an accessible source of high quality information on skills and the labour market. The UK Commission's continued aim for world-class skills that match the needs of tomorrow’s employers is firmly founded on evidence, which we are delighted to present to you via this website.

Indicators on the Almanac Online site can be found under the themes of context, productivity, employment, skills, and inequality. A variety of geographies, sectoral groupings, and socio-economic groups, are covered. In presenting such a broad range of indicators we acknowledge the need to better connect skills, employment, and economic development policy.

Indicators on the site are available in Excel workbooks, allowing users to download, analyse and use the data for their own purposes. The ‘Further Resources’ section gives more information about using the site.

We hope the Almanac Online will be a useful starting point for those requiring information on employment and skills, and serve as a key resource for those transforming labour market ‘information’ to ‘intelligence’.
