The purpose of the Local Delivery Support Grant (the Grant) is to support local areas with the implementation of Diplomas, Foundation Learning and Functional Skills in the context of increasing participation. Payments are made to every LA and there is an expectation LAs, schools and colleges will agree together how to distribute the funds in a way that will best meet local needs.
Allocations for the 2010-11 grant are made on the basis of the number of young people in each LA in 2012 and the number of new unique Diploma lines offered for the first time in a LA in September 2011. The first payment was a 50 per cent instalment made in July 2010. The remaining funds will be paid in January 2011. LAs were informed of their allocations in June 2010 and these were based on April 2010 Gateway results. If an LA is approved for September 2011 delivery of a new unique Diploma line through the Gateway reviews, the final January payment will be amended.
