New licensing regime for providers of NHS services: response to consultation

The Department of Health’s response to the consultation on proposals for implementing a new licensing regime for providers of NHS services is published today.

The department received 70 responses to the consultation from a wide range of interested parties.

The consultation included proposals on:

  • who will be required to hold a licence from Monitor
  • how can providers challenge proposed changes to licence conditions
  • what is the maximum fine that Monitor could impose for breach of licence conditions
