Informatics Capability Assessment and Development

Assessment tools - how well are we doing?

On this page you will find a range of support and assessment tools to help your organisation benefit from informatics; finding ways how best to use and build upon the capability you already have.

By assessing your current status around capability and workforce, you will discover that many levers to improvement include; education and training, benefits management, changes in working practices, leadership and culture change.

Those taking the lead role in service transformation should ensure that planning is led by business need and information, not by systems; that regional and local governance for informatics is robustly integrated within the mainstream; and that the capability and capacity of the NHS general workforce is effectively promoted with informatics embedded as an enabler.

Below are current tools and materials developed by the NHS and the Department of Health, which have been designed to give an understanding of the importance of Health Informatics and how it supports the challenges faced in service re-design and to help achieve the aims of the Information Revolution.
