PACS beyond 2013

We're working with trusts using PACS and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) via the Local Service Providers (LSPs) to plan for when these regional contracts expire. By helping trusts to plan and implement their future PACS service provision in good time, we're putting the management of systems like PACS and RIS back into the hands of local NHS organisations.

The contracts expire on:

  • 30 June 2013 in the North West, West Midlands and the South
  • 30 June 2014 in the North East, East of England and East Midlands (with an option to extend for a further 24 months), and
  • 31 July 2015 in London

Currently, 78 trusts in the NWWM and South and 6 trusts in the NEEM region are undergoing the process of procuring and implementing replacement PACS and RIS systems; the remaining trusts in England will commence in 2014-15.

N3 users can find detailed guidance on these activities specific to their supplier on the PACS NWW Website.
