This toolkit contains 12 separate sections, designed to help everyone working with children and young people who have special educational needs (SEN). It provides practical day-to-day guidance on the same matters as the Code and therefore should be read in conjunction with the SEN Code of Practice.

Aimed at LEAs, headteachers, governors of schools, early education practitioners and other interested parties, the SEN Toolkit was devised in collaboration with a number of different partners involved in meeting the needs of children and young people with SEN.

The toolkit provides practical suggestions on ways in which early education settings, schools, LEAs, health and social services could implement the statutory guidance set out in the SEN Code of Practice. Broken up in 12 different sections, each part of the toolkit will be of particular relevance to certain groups of professionals.
