hearing the views of citizens, patients and carers

Would you like to contribute to recommendations to the Secretary of State for Health on how to improve the way information is shared in health and social care?

We are holding a series of workshops over the summer centred around patients, service users and carers and would very much welcome your input. The first session on 25 July provided us with invaluable insight and a reality check for all the evidence we had heard at earlier sessions from organisations and professionals.

The last two sessions are
8 August – Birmingham
22 August – Oxford

The sessions are designed to capture the views of patients, service users and carers. The 3 key areas we’d like to explore are:

1.     Your experience of how appropriately your information has been shared and not shared,
2.     Your expectations for access to and control of your health and social care information (including carers’ access and control),
3.     How you think your information should be used and shared in the future (e.g. for your care, for research etc)

The sessions are almost full but, while we cannot accomodate many more at the face to face sessions, anyone can contribute their experiences and expectations by emailing fiona.caldicott@dh.gsi.gov.uk.
