Leadership, inspiration and the ability to inspire confidence in others are just some of the qualities sought by the Secretary of State for Health as he seeks to recruit high calibre candidates to the new NHS structure.
Vacancies are currently advertised for two chairs and three non-executive directors of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel, Healthwatch England and the NHS Commissioning Board Authority respectively.
The Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP) offers independent expertise on changes to clinical services in the NHS. The panel advises the Secretary of State on disputed change to the NHS in England. They also offer support and guidance to the NHS and other organisations on achieving successful change.
The Secretary of State is looking for candidates with strong leadership skills forged in the NHS or a similar field, with a talent for innovative thinking on clinical and service issues.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 8 May 2012 and interviews will be held on 28 May 2012 in London.
Healthwatch England will operate as a statutory committee of the Care Quality Commission. It will act as the national consumer champion for people, families and carers who use health and social care services.
The Chair, as a non-executive member of CQC, will be tasked with using dynamic and insightful leadership to inspire confidence; not only in service users, carers and the organisations representing them, but also commissioners, service providers, Ministers and the wider public.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 10 May 2012. Interviews are due to take place on 25 May 2012.
Finally, three non-executive directors are sought for the NHS Commissioning Board Authority. The board will lead a commissioning system to improve the health outcomes achieved by the NHS in England while securing value from budgets totaling around £80 billion. This is a unique opportunity to take a leading role in helping to design, develop and deliver the NHS of the future.
Non-executive directors will support the Chair by contributing to the wider governance and leadership of the board, helping to develop and maintain excellent relationships with a range of key partners.
