The search has begun for worthy nominations for a New Year honour in 2013.
Honours are an important public recognition of people who go the extra mile and do extraordinary things. They are the visible celebration of the success of people who really make a difference in health, healthcare and wellbeing.
Nominations are encouraged for people who have made a significant contribution, gone beyond the call of duty or put something back voluntarily into the community that improves our services.
The DH Permanent Secretary Una O’Brien has written to chief executives of strategic health authorities (SHAs), primary care trusts (PCTs) and Directors of Adult Social Services, but you can help too by putting forward a worthy candidate that you know.
The deadline for nomination submissions for the New Year 2013 Honours is Wednesday 28 March.
