Objective 1: Improving public and professional awareness and understanding of dementia.

Public and professional awareness and understanding of dementia needs to be improved and the stigma associated with it addressed. This objective should inform people of the benefits of timely diagnosis and care, promote the prevention of dementia and reduce social exclusion and discrimination. It should encourage behaviour change in terms of individuals seeking help and in the way professionals deliver services.
