The DfES launched a demonstration project in June 2006, to test the delivery of Transition Information Sessions (TIS) to parents of pupils starting primary and secondary school. The sessions form part of the parenting support offer within the Extended Schools prospectus, Access to opportunities and services for all.

The demonstration projects offer TIS to parents with a child joining Reception Year of a primary school or Year 7 (i.e. first year of secondary school).
