This is a new publication that presents national and LA level figures from 2008-09 for National Indicator 103. This indicator has two separate elements;

  1. The number of final statements of special educational needs issued within 26 weeks excluding exception cases as a proportion of all such statements issued in the year.
  2. The number of final statements of special educational needs issued within 26 weeks as a proportion of all such statements issued in the year.

Key points:

  • This publication provides, for the first time, national and LA figures for both parts of this indicator
  • On indicator 103A, 91 percent of final statements of special educational needs in England in 2008-09 were issued within 26 weeks (excluding exception cases). Local performance varied from 54 percent to 100 percent.
  • On indicator 103B, 82 percent of final statements in England in 2008-09 were issued within 26 weeks. Local performance varied from 30 percent to 100 percent.
