This Statistical First Release announces the publication of small area National Curriculum Assessment, GCSE and Equivalent Attainment and Post 16 Attainment information by Pupil Characteristics prepared by the DfES for the Neighbourhood Statistics Service (NeSS).

The tables provide final 2005 information about the Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 National Curriculum Assessments, GCSE and equivalent achievements and Post 16 attainment of young people broken down by gender. This release updates the final 2004 information published on 22 June and 7 July 2006 and signifies the first release of small area Key Stage 1 and Post 16 attainment information on the Neighbourhood Statistics Service.

The tables are based on the geographic locations of educational institutions in England. The intention is that these tables will be complemented over the next two to three months by the release of information based on the geographic locations of the usual residence of pupils and students in England, broken down by Gender, Free School Meal Eligibilty and Ethnicity.

Once published this information will be available within the Education, Skills and Training domain on the Neighbourhood Statistics web site and will complement the final LA and Local Authority District level 2005 Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 results, 2004/2005 GCSE and Equivalent results and 2004/2005 GCE/VCE A/AS results previously published by the DfES.
