This Statistical First Release reports information about permanent exclusions from maintained schools in England. It replaces the Statistical Bulletin "Permanent Exclusions from Maintained Schools in England" (last published in November 2003) and supplements figures published in an SFR (issue 16/2004) in May 2004.
This publication provides national and regional trends in the number of permanent exclusions as well as information on the characteristics of excluded pupils such as age, gender, ethnicity, special educational needs and attainment.
