This SFR provides the earliest information on the overall achievements of 7 year olds by gender in the 2004 National Curriculum Assessments. The release follows on from the final Key Stage 1 results for 2003 published on 24 June 2004 (SFR21/2004).
The statistics for 2004 will be presented in a different format to the final results for 2003 to reflect the fact that a trial has been taking place in some LEAs, where just teacher assessments are being submitted to the Department. For the non-trial LEAs, they have continued to submit both test/task and teacher assessments. The proposed format and contents for this statistical first release were published on the 29 April 2004 on the Department's statistical web-site (SFR10/2004).
