The Termly Exclusions Survey was carried out for the first time in summer 2003. It collected detailed information from LEAs in England about all types of exclusions from maintained schools. The collection focussed on exclusions that occured during the summer term in the academic year 2002/2003. This release will provide information at a national level about the permanent and fixed term exclusions. There are concerns about the reliability of some of the data returned by LEAs.
