It updates the information contained in Bulletin "Permanent Exclusions from Maintained Schools in England" issue number 09/02, published in November 2002. Related information has been published in the Statistical First Release, issue number 16/2003, published in May 2003. In addition, it provides analyses of exclusion trends; characteristics of pupils who have been excluded from school, including analyses by age, gender and ethnicity.
