This bulletin provides provisional statistics on children looked after by local authorities. It is an update from the previous bulletin which was released in November 2002. There are no new data items to comment on. It includes details on overall numbers of looked after children by legal status and placement. It also includes information on the main reason why children are looked after, ethnicity and unaccompanied asylum seeking children who are looked after.
