This statistical bulletin contains analyses of the vocational qualifications awarded in the United Kingdom in the school year 2000/2001, and contains a section comparing vocational and academic awards in England. These statistics are taken from the National Information System for Vocational Qualifications (NISVQ). NISVQ collects and presents information on the characteristics of the candidate achieving the awards (age, gender, ethnicity and special needs status), information about the qualification gained (type, level, subject and occupational classification) and the type and location of the assessment centre, which administered the award. The bulletin updated the information presented in the Bulletin "Statistics of Education: Vocational Quallifications in the UK 2000/01". This Bulletin was originally scheduled for 29 May 2003 but was delayed due to problems with data from one Awarding Body on the NISVQ
Please note:There was an error in Tables 2 and 4 of the original version of the Bulletin which affected awards of Other Vocational Qualifications by age for 2000/01 (column 5) and corresponding annual comparison figures in para 17. The 2000/01 figures for Other Vocational Qualifications were based on age on gaining award bands rather than academic age. A revised version was made available on Friday 11 July. Additional information presenting country level data and LEA level data was made available on Friday 18 July 2003
