This Statistical Bulletin summaries the information available on Special Educational Needs (SEN) and related information about special schools in England. It updates the information contained in the Statistical Bulletin "Special Educational Needs in England January 2001" issue number 12/01, published in November 2001. Related information has been published in the Statistical First Release, issue number 11/2002. In addition, it provides analyses of trends in special schools: pupils and staff; as well as the incidence and placement of pupils with SEN across primary and secondary schools and further analysis of SEN Statistics. Additional information has been included in this year's Bulletin as a result of changes in the data collection.
