This Statistical Bulletin reports information about permanent exclusions from maintained schools in England. It updates the information contained in the Bulletin "Permanent Exclusions from Maintained Schools in England" issue number 10/01, published in November 2001. Related information has been published in the Statistical First Release, issue number 10/2002, published in May 2002. In addition, it provides analyses by age, gender and ethnicity and the provision made for permanently excluded pupils over the five years for which data are available.
