This Statistical First Release provides the earliest information on the overall achievements of young people in GCSE examinations and the GNVQ equivalent. The information is based on that collated for the 2002 secondary school performance tables. The information is currently in the process of being checked by schools and colleges as part of the performance tables exercise.
This Statistical First Release will not contain any GCE/VCE A or AS level information because of the concerns about the quality of the underlying data. The publication of this information will be postponed until the data are judged fit for purpose. The revised publication date will be announced on the DfES internet site in due course.
