The latest statistics for the number of people applying for Post Graduate Certificates in Education (PGCE) starting in autumn 2002 at UK providers are published by the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) on the first Wednesday of each month.
The figures show the number of men and women who have applied for PGCE courses in primary and middle education, and in specific subjects in secondary education, compared with the same date the previous year. The percentage change between the two dates is shown where there are 100 or more applications.
Separate tables are provided to show details for England, Wales and Scotland, in addition to the overall UK totals.
From September 2002, GTTR will release the numbers who have accepted postgraduate initial teacher training places, alongside the regular release of applications figures.
