The Child Poverty Strategy A New Approach to Child Poverty: Tackling the Causes of Disadvantage and Transforming Families' Lives was published on 5 April. It sets out the framework to tackle child poverty from 2011-2014 and a new approach for ending child poverty by 2020.
The strategy reiterates the requirements of the Child Poverty Act for local authorities and partners. It also sets out the actions that Government is taking to support local partnerships and local communities in helping disadvantaged families. A short online guide which highlights the innovative work that has already taken place in local areas through the child poverty pilots, has been published alongside the strategy on the Department's website.
Consider the national Child Poverty Strategy when completing local child poverty needs assessments and strategies.
