Cascade to: Heads of young people services, heads of advice and guidance and 16-19 commissioning leads

The Minister has written to Directors of Children’s Services setting out the Government’s commitment to raise the participation age to 17 in 2013 and 18 in 2015.

The letter makes clear how our reforms will help to achieve this goal and confirms that the process of offering suitable places in education or training to 16- and 17-year-olds will continue.

Finally, the letter also provides a link to data on the proportion of 16- to 17-year-olds who received a suitable offer of education or training in 2010 in each local authority area.

Action required

No direct action is required, but the letter makes clear that the process of offering suitable places in education or training to 16- and 17-year-olds will continue.
