Summary

On 24 May 2012, the Department published a discussion paper on increasing parental and community involvement in children's centres. The aim of the paper is to see how we can help parents and communities have more of a say in shaping and delivering children's centre services. The paper will be of interest to local authorities as commissioners and providers of children's centres and children's centre services. The paper invites expressions of interest from groups of parents interested in developing their own community management models for centres. Support will be available to help groups develop proposals. The Department would also like to hear from local authorities who would like to be involved in developing new parent-led models.

Action required and due date

Local authorities that wish to respond to the questions in the discussion paper or would like to be involved in developing new parent-led management models for children's centres, should submit responses to parentpaper.SSCC @education.gsi.gov.uk by 19 July 2012.
