The Daily Telegraph has requested information regarding how many staff employed by the Department since 1 January 2007 have been discovered not to have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Release

The Department carries out pre-appointment and background checks on all employees, whether permanent or temporary, and it can confirm that nobody has been employed since January 2007 who has been discovered not to have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) was established on the 28 June 2007 following the Machinery of Government Changes. The Department can also confirm the same answer for those recruited from January to June in the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) which existed before these changes.
