The Government set out the need for greater transparency across its operations to enable the public to hold public bodies and politicians to account. This includes a commitment relating to public expenditure, intended to help achieve better value for money.

In April 2010, as part of this transparency agenda, the Department for Education (DfE) and our Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs) began to publish spending over £25,000.

As of 31 March 2012, the GTCE ceased operations, but a range of former GTCE transparency data can be found on the National Archives website.

We aim to publish the data for the previous month by the last working day of the current month.

You can also search for DfE and our ALBs’ data on, where you will find further information about the Government’s transparency initiative.
