DescriptionThis publication is also available via the Main DfE website. This page will remain available from this page for the foreseeable future, but readers are invited to update their bookmarks to the new location.

This is a new publication that presents national and LA level figures from 2008-09 for National Indicator 103. This indicator has two separate elements;

  1. The number of final statements of special educational needs issued within 26 weeks excluding exception cases as a proportion of all such statements issued in the year.
  2. The number of final statements of special educational needs issued within 26 weeks as a proportion of all such statements issued in the year.

Key points:

  • This publication provides, for the first time, national and LA figures for both parts of this indicator
  • On indicator 103A, 91 per cent of final statements of special educational needs in England in 2008-09 were issued within 26 weeks (excluding exception cases). Local performance varied from 54 per cent to 100 per cent.
  • On indicator 103B, 82 per cent of final statements in England in 2008-09 were issued within 26 weeks. Local performance varied from 30 per cent to 100 per cent.
