Quality Accounts

Quality Accounts aim to enhance the public accountability of organisations that provide services to NHS patients and engage their leaders in quality improvement.

Most providers of NHS services are required to annually produce and publish a Quality Account to give an account of the quality of those services and their priorities for improvement.

Quality Accounts are currently not required in relation to primary care services and NHS Continuing Healthcare, or from organisations classed as ‘small providers’. Roll-out to primary care services (such as GP and dentist services) is under evaluation; in the meantime, organisations that provide primary care services to NHS patients are encouraged to provide an account of their quality where appropriate.
