Tackling infections

Infections are caused when micro-organisms, such as bacteria or viruses, invade the body and cause harm. Our immune system is designed to fight off infections, but sometimes antibiotics or antivirals are needed to help tackle the infection. Infections often cause only mild or moderate discomfort, but some can be severe and even life-threatening.
