Ministerial conduct and guidance

Ministerial Code

The Propriety and Ethics Team advises the Cabinet Secretary, ministers and departments on issues under the Ministerial Code, the Prime Minister's code of conduct and guidance on procedures for ministers.

The Ministerial Code sets out the standards of conduct expected of ministers and how they discharge their duties.

On Friday 15 July 2011 the following addendum to the Ministerial Code was agreed by the Prime Minister:

“The Government will be open about its links with the media. All meetings with newspaper and other media proprietors, editors and senior executives will be published quarterly regardless of the purpose of the meeting.”
