The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

On 1 December 2012 the Criminal Records Bureau and Independent Safeguarding Authority merged to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

This new organisation will provide a joined up, seamless service combining the criminal records checking and barring functions. Further legislative changes will come into force during 2013 and 2014. These details will be published on the DBS website.
