Ceiling in the FCO building, King Charles StreetWhen the first Foreign Secretary was appointed in 1782, the Foreign Office fitted into two fairly modest houses in London.

Today, the FCO's estate includes a number of historic buildings in the UK including a Grade 1 listed building in Whitehall, as well as many distinctive embassies and other posts around the world.
