The Energy flow chart 2011 illustrates the flow of primary fuels from home production and imports to their eventual final uses. We show them in their original state, and after being converted into different kinds of energy by the secondary fuel producers. The flows are measured in million-tonnes of oil equivalent, with the widths of the bands approximately proportional to the size of the flow they represent.
We used to publish this chart every three years, but will now update it annually. The next update, in summer 2013, will contain the 2012 UK energy flows.

You can also order a free printed copy online from the DECC Publications Library.
Flow charts for the individual fuels – coal, petroleum, gas, electricity and renewables – are contained in the publication Digest of United Kingdom energy statistics (DUKES). Annual updates will appear in subsequent editions of DUKES, and in DUKES: annex H.
