What the electronic message signs mean

As well as a range of text-only messages, the electronic message signs now show pictograms. Below are the pictograms and the text that is displayed with them on electronic message signs. Some pictograms can be used for more than one message. In these cases both possible texts are displayed next to the pictogram.

'Accident, use [alternative lane or route]'

'Workforce in'

'Skid risk'

'Strong winds'
