Disability health contacts

Below is a range of organisations, charities and support groups that offer advice and information to disabled people on health-related areas

Action on Hearing Loss

Action on Hearing Loss (formerly RNID) is a membership charity aiming for a radically better quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing people through campaigning, lobbying, services and social, medical and technical research.

Leonard Cheshire

Leonard Cheshire provides help for disabled people to live independently, from a few hours of care at home to more intensive medical support, at one of their residential and nursing homes.

Multiple Sclerosis Society

The Society funds MS research, runs respite care centres, provides grants, education and training on MS. It produces numerous publications on MS and runs a freephone specialist helpline.

National Society for Epilepsy

Provides information, support and care through medical and residential services to people with epilepsy.

Patients' Association

The association campaigns for clean and healthy healthcare facilities, shorter waiting times and better information for patients.

Patient UK

Patient UK aim to be a reliable and comprehensive source of health and disease information, mainly aimed at the UK general public, but of interest to all.

Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)

A major UK charity offering information, support and advice to over two million blind and partially sighted people


For people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers.

Spinal Injuries Association (SIA)

Support for people affected by spinal cord injury, including the family and friends of the disabled person.

Stroke Association

The Stroke Association produces guidance, help and advice for people who have had strokes and their families and carers
