GP Patient Survey Dental Statistics

The Department, together with Ipsos MORI publish Official Statistics from the GP Patient Survey. A sample of around 1.4 million registered patients in England are invited to take part twice a year. Their responses provide timely and valuable information for Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and GP practices about patients’ experiences when they access local services.

Additional analysis of the dental section is carried out by the Department of Health, combining questions to get more of an understanding of dental access and behaviours. This additional information, based on people’s reported experience, are used to assess whether PCTs were meeting the local demand for NHS dentistry.
