6Cs Green Infrastructure Projects

The 6Cs SGI Growth Fund has invested £3m in green infrastructure projects across the three cities of Leicester, Derby and Nottingham and their surrounding counties. The Growth Fund has supported partners to deliver projects that will contribute to a robust green infrastructure network that will both assist in attracting future investment and development and achieve multi-purpose public benefits for both existing and future residents as well as visitors to the area. Funding application forms, guidance for applicants and project appraisal forms are available to assist anyone developing similar grant aid schemes. Below is a list of projects that have been supported by the SGI Growth Fund. |

Chris Blandford Associates were commissioned by Natural England and the Wildlife Trusts in the East Midlands to carry out the 6Cs Growth Point Biodiversity Opportunity Mapping Study as a parallel, but highly complementary, piece of work to the emerging 6Cs Green Infrastructure Strategy and Action Plan. The findings of the study will inform the development of the biodiversity component of the 6Cs Green Infrastructure Strategy. |

Stepping Stones Project, Leicester The Stepping Stones Project has been running from Leicestershire County Council since 1992 and represents a partnership working in and around Leicester that aims to improve greenspace and make high quality Green Infrastructure available to all. |

Creating the Heart of the National Forest in the Ashby Woulds, Derbyshire The Ashby Woulds lies at the heart of the former Leicestershire and South Derbyshire coalfield. It covers an area of 16 square kilometres in the centre of The National Forest. |
