National Workforce Dataset (NWD) v 2.4 - Changes (Amd 30/2011)

The changes to the National Workforce Dataset (NWD) published in December 2011 updates the dataset following recent policy changes and the requirement for enhanced workforce information. In summary the changes are:

1. Area of work values

  • Changes to existing data values, and addition of new values, for Health Informatics staff. (See NWD guidance documents)
  • A new Area of Work value to allow the capture of information on the multidisciplinary Family Nurse Partnership teams now working in the NHS.

2. Changes to Occupation Code Manual - ISB 0141 Amd 31/2011 - the current published version 9.0 is to be updated to version 10.0.

Details of changes to occupation codes are listed below:

  • New occupation code to capture Nursery Nurses working in Neonatal Nursing (including Special Care Baby Units)
  • Closure of incorrectly identified code for Assistant Practitioner in Pharmacy [S5P]
  • Increased clarity in the divide between registered (qualified) and support staff in some occupation code matrices
  • Updated guidance notes across the manual

National Workforce Dataset (NWD) v2.3 - Changes (ISN 165/2010)

The proposed changes to the National Workforce Dataset (NWD) published in December 2010 were required to meet the following policy and practice requirements:

  • National Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme
  • General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2003

The changes include:

  • Additions to reason for leaving
  • Revision to reasons for sickness absences
  • Changes to the Area of Work
  • Rectify gaps in existing value sets

Changes to the National Workforce Dataset (NWD) published in June 2010 were required to meet the following policy and practice requirements:

  • Modernising Medical Careers
  • Special Care Dentistry
  • Disability Discrimination Act 1995
  • Changes to the Ambulance Service
  • Updated Statutory Instruments

The changes include:

  • The addition of new specialties to the Area of Work
  • Addition of new job roles
  • Change to Absence criteria to include disability leave
  • Rectifying gaps in existing value sets

Changes to the National Workforce Dataset (NWD) published in May 2009 are required to meet the following policy and practice requirements:

  • national roll-out of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme
  • changes to the SAS Doctors contract including the introduction of Speciality Doctors
  • analysis of burns care workforce
  • analysis of reasons for staff leaving NHS employment

National Workforce Data Definition (NWD) v2.0 - Inherited Standard (DSCN 10/2008)
