About the job

Interviewing members of the public at Bristol Airport. The Bristol team also cover Plymouth Docks where you will also be required to work.

Part time hours of 832 p.a. (c.a. 16hrs per week)

A car, driving licence and landline phone are essential.

A Disclosure Scotland certificate is mandatory.

You need to undertake General Security Awareness Training.

Based at Bristol you will conduct structured interviews with passengers.

When working at Plymouth you will be required to stay overnight due to the time needed to travel to the site (subsistence and mileage costs are paid when working at the docks).

Benefits include comprehensive training and a uniform.

Shift working is required, AM shifts run from 06:00 hrs, PM shifts finish at 23:00hrs. Shift lengths are normally 7.5 to 8 hours in length.

The IPS contract requires you to work weekends.

You need to be aware of the physical requirements of the position. At some sites you will be required to walk distances to reach your place of work and occasionally climb stairs. You will stand for long periods of time. Hand dexterity is necessary also the ability to move through congested areas.

When working at seaports you will work outside in all weathers, at quayside operation sites you need to negotiate busy car lanes.

There should be no restrictions on your ability to travel to your place of work by whatever means required.

  • Landline phone

  • A ‘Disclosure Scotland’ Basic Disclosure criminal record check certificate (to be applied for after success at interview and before starting)

  • Full comprehensive five year work history (referencing mandatory for Airside passes)

  • Evidence of personal effectiveness

  • Evidence of effective communication skills

  • Willingness to be flexible and available, for example being adaptable to change in the workplace and work patterns

  • Any other skills that you can bring to ONS an advantage such as  foreign language skills, dealing with members of the public and working with others
