David Willetts comments on the Finch Group report on expanding access to published research findings

Welcoming the report published today by Dame Janet Finch and her Working Group, Minister for Universities and Science David Willetts said:

“Opening up access to publicly-funded research findings is a key commitment for this Government. Proposed initiatives like providing access to findings for research-intensive small companies and making peer-reviewed journals available for free at public libraries would foster innovation, drive growth and open up a new area of academic discovery.

“This comprehensive report will make a vital contribution to the development of policy on open access, which we will be setting out in the near future.”

East of England export leader welcomes boost in local overseas sales

UK Trade & Investment Regional Director Liz Basing has welcomed the news that East of England exports hit £6.8 billion for the first three months of 2012. Regional exports to all overseas markets for the year to March 2012 rose to £27.6bn, an increase of almost 14% on the previous year compared to a 9% increase for the UK overall.
