Sixth Form Colleges: Changes to Instruments and Articles of Government

Sixth Form Colleges will receive letters, by post, on a short, but technically necessary consultation on Modification Orders that will amend SFC Instruments & Articles of Government from 1st April 2012. The orders are a legal necessity to enable sixth form colleges to exercise the new powers that will be afforded to them on commencement of the Education Act 2010, including the power to modify or replace their own Instrument & Articles. The timing to consult is unusually short in light of the abolition of the YPLA. The letters provide a full explanation for the consultation. Responses are requested by Tuesday 20th March 2012. The text of the letter, a Q&A brief and the four draft Modification Orders are available for download.
